Job Title:  Conference Center Manager

 

General Responsibilities

 

Directs and Coordinates the activities of the Conference Center operation to meet the missions of guest satisfaction, property appearance and employee support established by Stoney Creek Inn.  Aids the Director of Sales or Sales Manager with the sales efforts of the hotel.

 

Supervision Received/Provided

 

This position is closely supervised by the Director of Sales and/or General Manager.

 

Essential Duties

 

1.     Directs Conference Center operations by developing and implementing strategies and services.  Evaluates trends and modifies strategies to meet or exceed the needs of the owner, employees and guests within budgets.

2.     Understands, promotes and embraces the People First philosophy of Stoney Creek Inn and develops staff through timely performance evaluations and knowledge of market salaries. 

3.     Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to achieve conference center related goals and objectives. 

4.     Greet guests and staff in a friendly, welcoming manner and provide assistance when possible and as requested.  Coordinate through staff and management if unable to resolve alone. 

5.     Responsible for inspecting conference rooms, back of the house and surrounding public areas to ensure cleanliness and upkeep is maintained. 

6.     Knowledgeable on the operation of all kitchen equipment and appliances as well as upkeep and cleanliness.  Report any discrepancies to maintenance for repair if needed.

7.     Responsible for reading and interpreting Banquet Event Orders in order to properly direct staff on set up conference rooms for events, including in house breaks and audio/visual.

8.     Maintain and evaluate relationships with outside caterers including six month evaluations, menu updates, initial contracts, insurance updates, etc.

9.     Maintain all customer billings for conference center and processing catering invoices to corporate for payment

10.  Direct staff and assign duties to meet daily objectives and guests needs. 

11.  Assist caterers to assure food and beverage is set up on time and is presented in a tasteful manner.

12.  Knowledgeable on the operation of all audio/visual equipment owned by the hotel. 

13.  Maintain the security of the conference rooms to assure the assets of the hotel and guests are protected.

14.  Maintain and perform inventory counts as required on linens, china, glass, silverware.  Place orders as needed to ensure inventories are maintained at proper levels.   

15.  Assist with end of month reporting as required by Corporate Office. 

 

 

Our Ideal Candidate will Possess:

Required Education/Certifications/Training/Experience

  1. High School degree or GED required.  College degree in related area preferred.
  2. Have knowledge of all hotel emergency procedures especially fire prevention and emergency procedures and be able to train staff in these areas
  3. Be familiar with the handling and use of all chemicals and equipment used to carry out the tasks of this position and use protective equipment provided.  Be able to train staff in these areas.
  4. Report accidents, injuries, near misses and property damage to  supervisor
  5. Able to read, interpret and train others and follow the rules and procedures provided in the employee handbook

 

Technical Skills and Abilities

  1. Must be able to operate commercial dish machine, vacuum, carpet cleaner and similar commercial equipment used to maintain the hotel
  2. Be familiar with or capable of learning the computer systems, property management software, sales and catering module, and electronic machines used to carry out the tasks of this position
